Paycent ("we", "us") provides software to help groups track and split expenses. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to process the minimum amount of personal information necessary to run the product, and we never sell it.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, phone number (optional), and a chosen username. When you use Paycent, we store the groups, expenses, payments, and settings you create. We also collect basic technical information such as device type and app version to diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
How we use your information
- To provide the core product — create groups, record expenses, compute balances, and surface activity to other group members.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To send essential service notifications (e.g. password reset, account changes).
- To diagnose bugs and improve performance.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- We do not run advertising on Paycent or hand your data to ad networks.
- We do not access the content of your groups for marketing.
Sharing within a group
Expenses, payments, balances, and activity inside a group are visible to all members of that group. If you add a member by username, phone, or email, they will see the group's contents once they accept the invitation.
Third-party services
Paycent relies on a small number of third-party providers — for cloud hosting, transactional email, push notifications, and crash reporting. These providers are contractually limited to processing your data only on our behalf.
Your choices
- You can review and edit your profile at any time from Settings.
- You can leave a group from within the group's settings.
- You can request export or deletion of your account by contacting privacy@paycent.net.
Data retention
We retain account and group data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve outstanding financial activity within a group.
Children
Paycent is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via in-app notice or email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
