Terms of Service
Last updated: May 11, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Paycent (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully — they include important limitations of liability and a description of how disputes are resolved.
The service
Paycent is a tool for tracking and splitting group expenses. It is not a payment processor: Paycent records who owes whom, but actual money transfers between members happen outside the Service through channels you choose. We are not a financial institution and do not hold funds on your behalf.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Paycent.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
- You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it up to date.
- You may not use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others.
Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create in Paycent (expenses, group names, descriptions, etc.). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display that content as necessary to operate the Service.
Acceptable use
- No abusive, deceptive, or illegal activity.
- No attempts to reverse-engineer, probe, or disrupt the Service.
- No automated scraping or bulk extraction of data beyond what our APIs explicitly support.
Disputes between members
Paycent computes balances based on the data you enter. Disputes about whether an expense was correctly recorded, or whether a settlement was actually paid, are between you and the other group members. Paycent is not a party to those disputes and cannot adjudicate them.
Service availability
We work to keep Paycent reliable, but we provide the Service on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paycent and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, goodwill, or data, arising out of your use of the Service.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where reasonable.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via in-app notice or email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
